Affordable Study Abroad Advising for Students Worldwide
Ready to begin planning your study abroad experience but not sure where to start?
That’s WHERE I come in!
Hi! My name is Kimber and I’m The Study Abroad Specialist and Founder of The LiveStudyLearn Abroad Association, the world’s premier members’ club for study abroad students worldwide.
My mission since I launched my business has been to provide future study abroad students with the opportunities I did not have when I embarked on my journey. To read more about my story, click this link.
What is Study Abroad Advising?
That’s WHERE YOU come in.
Study abroad advising in its traditional sense is based on teaching students who to select classes for their semester away, providing tips for packing, often with some sprinkled in anecdotes of those who traveled before them about what to expect when they arrive at their host country.
My study abroad advising program is tailored to your needs, based on what you would like to cover, and can be as specific as possible depending on the stage of your application you are in. In recent study abroad advising sessions, I have worked with students on:
Searching for Study Abroad Programs
Writing a personal statement
Application organizing and timeline mapping
Visa research for Canadian graduate school abroad
What Are the Benefits of Study Abroad Advising?
Similar to the sessions themselves, the benefits received are individualized. However, based on feedback, some of my most recent advisees have stated the following:
1:1 access to a knowledgeable expert who understands all areas of study abroad
Support during the highs and lows of a study abroad application process
Assistance with finding a program that will best fit your needs
Development of plans to use study abroad for future career opportunities
Where does advising happen and how much does it cost?
In order to ensure I am able to connect with students around the world, all advising sessions take place online, usually via Zoom or Google Meet. All first-time students are invited to sign up for a ‘Let’s Chat’ 30-minute introductory session. This ensures we cover your needs and determine we are the best fit for each other.
For ongoing students, 60-minute sessions are available upon request weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Most students attend 6-7 sessions throughout their application process.
The current cost of my advising sessions are:
Introductory ‘Let’s Chat’ Sessions: $25 USD
Ongoing Advising Sessions: $50 USD per session
Students are invited to pay in any currency via Paypal or Venmo when applicable.
Great! How do I sign up?
To get started, click this link to find my calendar. At this time, only first-time students need to use this calendly link.
If you are an ongoing student, you will receive additional information for registration after our initial meeting.
Note: All times listed on my calendar are in Pacific Standard Time (PST), so factor this in when selecting your preferred time.
I look forward to meeting you very soon!
Until then,
– K

Known as The Study Abroad Specialist, I am a serial-study abroader turned International Education coach and expert. Since 2014, I have been helping students navigate their semester away journey from the coastal areas of Spain to China and every place in between through (mostly free) online content and low-cost advising.
I hold two Master's degrees from two well-respected London-based universities and have experience working in the US, UK & and Italy.
In my spare time (what's that again?), I enjoy leisure travel city breaks, any snow-based activity, skeet shooting (not that greatly though!), and attempting to learn new languages.
